Bumble bees are big, fuzzy insects recognized by almost everyone. Bumble bees are beneficial insects because they pollinate crops and plants. As part of their aggressive defense of their nests, bumble bees will chase for a large distance. The bumble bee sting is one of the most painful and unlike honey bees, bumble bees can sting more than once.

In the wild, Bumble Bees most often nest inside cavities of trees, caves and cracks in rock formations. But occasionally, a colony will nest inside a wall, firewood pile, shed, crawl space or attic. If a Bumble Bee nest can be avoided, then leaving them alone and waiting for them to die in the fall is the preferred option. However, nests are often found in yards, flowers beds, wood piles, or walls in high traffic places where the threat of being stung is great.

Prevention:

As part of their aggressive defense of their nests, bumble bees will chase nest invaders for a considerable distance. The bumble bee sting is one of the most painful and a Bumble bee can sting more than once.
